Crossover/Kreuzung: German&Austrian Film Festival

The German & Austrian Film Festival starts on October 20 and continues for the next two Mondays with a series of films which trace boundaries, and raise issues of identity, possibility and love.
All films will be shown at Images Cinema at 7pm in German with English subtitles. admission is free.

The Edge of Heaven (Fatih Akin, 2007) – October 20

A film of interlocking strands that narrates the lives of four Turks and two Germans as they realize the meaning of love while facing the harsh realities of their lives between Germany and Turkey.


Yella (Christian Petzold, 2007) – October 27

Yella flees her small hometown in former East Germany for a new life in the West. She finds a promising job and falls in love, but just as she is about to realize her dreams, she finds herself haunted by buried truths that threaten to destroy her newfound happiness.


The Last Dance (Houchang Allahyari, 2014) – November 3

Karl works as a caregiver in a psychiatric clinic where he develops a friendship with Julia, a strong-willed elderly patient in the geriatic ward. The relationship verges on the edge of romance, and the police storm into Karl’s house to press charges.
