For International Heritage Week ISA, CGLLC, and SASA* are collaborating to screen the film "Viral" made by Indian and Pakistani filmmakers through Seeds of Peace and the US Consulate under the project "Kitney Duur Kitney Paas" (How Far, How Close) film project. These filmmakers met only after the film was launched, and had the added challenge of shooting a film in 2 separate countries. All the films in this series are about the India-Pakistan bond – calling for the friendship, harmony, and peace that the citizens of both nations seek instead of the current enmity that envelops them. On April 6, Chinese pipa player Gao Hong will join Issam Rafea, a Syrian oud artist, and Venezuelan harpist Leonard Jacome for a string performance connecting musical styles from across Asia and South America. We proudly announce the first Transnational Asian Film Festival at Williams, which will take place March 9-14, 2023. This year’s theme explores the possibilities “Beyond Biopolitical Bodies” and will start with public screenings of three recent films from Japan, South Korea, and China at Images. The last documentary by Mantas Kvedaravičius, who returned to the besieged eastern city of Mariupol earlier this year and was killed there.
